Polish applie pie(szarlotka)
Ingredients
- 250 grams of flour
- 200 grams of sugar
- 3/4 teaspoon of baking powder
- 125 grams of butter
- 1 killogram of apples(granny smith)
- 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon
- 2 egg yolks
- 1 whole egg
Instructions,
Time to prepare: 1 hour, 40 minutes
- Step 1: We will start off with pre-heating the oven to 180°C.
- Step 2: While the oven is heating up, pour the flour along with the baking powder and sugar into a bowl and mix.
- Step 3: Add butter to thr mix and keep mixing until everythinh is well combined.
- Step 4: Now add in the whole and both the egg yolks into the bowl and once again mix until well combined. It should have a crumbly texture.
- Step 5: We will now cover the bowl and put it in the fridge for 30 minutes.
- Step 6: Now we will now get a 9 inch springform pan and fill it with 2/3 of the mix and leave the other 1/3 in the fridge for a future step. the 2/3 should cover the whole pan and its sides.
- Step 7: Cut the apples into slices and add to a bowl and mix with the cinnamon.
- Step 8: Now start piling up the apples nicely into the pan so you can fit as many as you can.
- Step 9: Now come back to the other 1/3 of the mix and turn it into our crumble and begin to sprinkle the entirety over the pie.
- Step 10: Finally we can put the pie into the oven for about 50 minutes or until you see the crust is lighlt brown and the apples become tender.
- Step 11: We can now take the pie out of the oven but be vare cautious as it will be very hot.
- Step 12: You can now serve and savour it on a plate by itself or ice cream beside it.
